About Greektown at Sundown

About Greektown at Sundown

“We are excited to celebrate the return of Greektown’s summer weekend event series to Detroit,” said Tasso Teftsis, president of the Greektown Preservation Society and co-owner of Astoria Pastry Shop, Redsmoke Barbeque and Krema. “Greektown at Sundown are one-of-a-kind downtown experiences that bring increased energy, visitors and revenue to Detroit and this district.”

Greektown at Sundown draws thousands of pedestrians to the streets of the iconic district every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening when Monroe Street closes to vehicle traffic and transforms into a walkable plaza between Beaubien and St. Antoine streets. During the weekend event series, from 6 to 10 p.m., Monroe will be activated with street performers, entertainment, live music, interactive art, head-turning window displays and more.

Visitors also will enjoy alfresco dining on street side patios at the following locations: Astoria Pastry Shop, Cold Stone Creamery, Golden Fleece, Krema, Pappy’s Bar & Grill, PizzaPapalis, Plaka, Redsmoke Barbeque, Santorini Estiatorio and Sharky’s on Monroe. Wahlburger’s also has plans to offer outdoor seating when it opens this summer. Patio seating will continue into the fall (weather permitting).

Greektown at Sundown is a collaborative effort led by the member businesses of the Greektown Preservation Society. The event also is sponsored by Brown-Forman, Budweiser, Cisco, EcoLab, E&J Gallo Winery, Gold Star Products, Ikea, Metro Sanitation, Pepsi and US Foods.
